Slab and Hardscape Settlement

For various reasons the soil under slabs and hardscapes can settle. Sometime an owner of a building can repair these items several times before it becomes evident that the soil under them is going to continue to cause problems.

With the right team of forensic engineers we can develop a good understanding of the problem with its underlying causes and develop a plan to fix the problem at its source. The plan may consist of Cement grouting, Chemical Grouting, Micro Piles, Helical Piers, or perhaps simple Mud Jacking.

We review these options with the owner to discuss pros and cons of each method, their various cost differences, and the risks associated with each of them. Generally we prefer grouting type fixes for slabs and non point loads, and axial bearing products such as helical piers or micro piles to point loads such as footings.

Each project may incorporate several strategies to maximize performance and keep costs under control. One innovative method we have developed is the use of light weight cellular concrete in our pressure grout mixes. This has several advantages: Light weight being the chief advantage, as well as the controlled low strength grouts to be used over the top of existing infrastructure to allow for future excavations.

We are the only underpinning company in Arizona to own and operate our own pot holing equipment that can enable us to physically locate underground infrastructure before underpinning nearby.
